SteamWorld Heist is out December 10 + Pricing

Howdy, a very delighted and excited Brjann here!

SteamWorld Heist has now been two years in the making. In that time, I’ve seen my colleagues evolve, get married and have babies – all while writing amazing amounts of brilliant code and drawing near-uncountable, beautiful strokes to make a wonderful game.

For a short while we talked about postponing the game into 2016, which would have felt like a huge defeat. And in the end we didn’t have to – Heist was ready!

You can imagine my relief and how much I’ve looked forward to today: The day when Julius has graciously let me take over the blog in order to announce the definite release date.

SteamWorld Heist Release Date

SteamWorld Heist launches on Nintendo 3DS in the Americas, Europe, Australia and New Zealand on December 10 at 14:00 UTC. We strongly suspect the game will rock your socks off. (Fortunately, we’ve been told that new socks are in abundant supply where you live.) The Japanese version will come later, as will all other platforms.

Pricing and Launch Discount

The regular price point will be $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99. Yeah, we know it’s cheap for this much game, but that’s a whole other discussion. Let the simple comparison below suffice (it’s objective too, since math never lies):

  • SteamWorld Dig costs $9.99.
  • SteamWorld Heist is at least 10 times bigger and better than Dig.
  • Ergo: you’re getting a minimum of 5 times the value.
  • And the game takes at least 20 to 25 hours to finish!

We’re throwing in a launch discount as a Holiday gift to the Nintendo 3DS community. From launch until December 31, the price will be $16.99 / €16.99 / £11.99. Note that we don’t expect to discount the game for a very long while after that.

Exclusive 3DS Home Menu Theme

From launch until December 31, we’re also giving away an exclusive Nintendo 3DS Home Menu theme with every purchase of SteamWorld Heist. After that, the theme will never be available again. Like, never. Ever.

Release Trailer and Ambassador Winner

The SteamWorld Heist release trailer premieres on December 8.

Let’s conclude with announcing the results from our latest SteamWorld Ambassador Challenge, where we asked you to create quotes for the SteamWorld Heist launch trailer. The winner is J-Gamer Nathan with “Too robust to rust” – just enough of a message to let people pick it up. Congrats!

Are you excited for the release?

Oh good thing i resisted some black friday Eu sales.
But the waiting is killing me.
I was expecting it to be at 25.99 euros. (like the cost for 1 gameshop card and 99 cents)

  • Orion Hermans

    I’m so hyped! Cant wait!

  • Kevin Cruz

Hype! I’m getting it day one! I hope it sells a lot, you guys deserve it. I hope you keep the momentum going and start right away with your next game.

  • Cool! Thank you! It’s an honor that you chose my line! 😀

  • ron fett

This is a definite Day 1 buy

  • TheGamingWolf

8 days till release! I’M SO READY!

  • But…Xenoblade AND Heist?!?! I HAVE TO SLEEP SOMETIMES, Y’KNOW?!
(omg I cannot wait until the 10th + I love you guys!…I’ll just finish Xenoblade in 6 days lol)

    • Haha, you rock 😀 Make sure to beat Xenoblade fast D:

      • Pssssshh, nah! Heist totally warrants a break from Xenoblade!!

  • Tom Dupree

    soooo……..the PC release when?

  • Coffee High

Glad we have a release date!!! Don’t change it because it will delay the soundtrack release!!!
I think I’ll buy Steamworld Heist for x-mas for my youngest son, if I can remember how to buy it get it and install it on his 3DS. (I miss cartridges!) Also, I just came from the Steam Powered Giraffe website and pre-ordered a signed copy of the soundtrack. Love those guys!
Also, I will eventually buy the game for Xbox One when that version comes out. I should be done with Fallout 4, Halo 5 and Tomb Raider by then… yeah right!
A good thing about digital games? No signed copies so nobody gets writer’s cramp!
I said in a previous post here that I wasn’t too excited about Strategy games in general, (blame years of playing Dune 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics), but the videos for Steamworld Heist have finally won me over. Next time though I want a side scrolling action platformer bigger and better than Mario on shrooms and faster than Sonic in his best “Blast Processing” days!
