Howdy, partners!

We’re taking a short summer break until August 1. We’ll be mostly offline during this time, so don’t worry if we don’t get back to you right away. Once we’re back from the beach we’ll talk with you as usual! In the meantime we have a competition for you, in which you can create in-game content for SteamWorld Heist. The winners will get free SteamWorld games and exclusive info on future titles.

The SteamWorld Ambassador Challenges Return

Thanks to your incredible support and outcry for more, the SteamWorld Ambassador Challenges finally make a grand return! We’d like you to design a hat that will appear in SteamWorld Heist as part of a DLC hat pack. A quick sketch on a napkin or on your phone will do just fine. Our artists will then choose their favorites and incorporate them in the game. Please name the hat and give it a short backstory!

As you know, steambots are crazy about hats. A sort of hat fetish, if you like. It’s central to their existence to wear a cool headpiece. Hats are collectibles you can equip your band of rag-tag robots with (you can even shoot off enemy hats and wear them). Players are loving this!

A simple sketch of your hat design will work just fine!

What you can win

The winners will become SteamWorld Ambassadors. As a SteamWorld Ambassador you’ll get free keys for every version of every SteamWorld game. Ever. We’ll even add a few spares you can give to your friends. You and the other Ambassadors also get access to exclusive information about the SteamWorld games as they progress. This is done in our private Facebook group.

Rules and how to enter

Upload your hats (and ask any questions) in the comments below. We need your designs by Sunday July 31 at 23:59 CEST (EU) / 5:59 PM EDT (NA). We’ll pick the winners once we’re back from our summer break and will reveal the new SteamWorld Ambassadors in early August. By submitting your creations you give us the rights to freely use them in our products, services and marketing assets.

We also reserve the right to judge whether the winning entry appears in the final game or not, and might alter the design to fit it the game’s art style. If no suitable entry is submitted before the deadline we’ll still choose a winner that gets all rewards mentioned above.

Create your entry freely, but let’s keep it safe for work and enjoyable for anyone!

Hit us with your best (hat) shot! Good luck and happy summer 😀

SteamWorld Photo Contest – SteamWorld Ambassador Challenge #10

SteamWorld Photo Contest – Ambassador Challenge #10

Howdy, partner!

This week’s SteamWorld Ambassador Challenge is: take a photo of anything from SteamWorld… in the real world! What this means is you have to get creative. Maybe you can reenact a shootout from SteamWorld Heist by taking cover behind your sofa and pointing your finger gun at the camera? All donned in your coolest hat, of course. Or if you have a big pile of dirt somewhere… Why not climb it and strike Rusty’s victory pose from SteamWorld Dig? The world is your playground.

Here’s our take to get you started:

Here's our take on SteamWorld Heist IRL.

Shooting off imaginary hats with imaginary guns: Check!

Your entry can be silly like ours, but don’t let that limit your creation. Previous SteamWorld Ambassador Challenges have taught us we can expect anything from you, so we’ll choose a winner based on general creativity and fun factor. Go wild, but take care: we don’t want you get hurt in the making!

What you win…

If you win you’ll become a SteamWorld Ambassador and be among the first in the world to play SteamWorld Heist before release. The game will launch on Nintendo 3DS this fall with all other platforms coming shortly after. Prior to every platform release we’ll send you a download code for the full game. We’ll even add a few spares you can give to your friends. The Ambassadors also get access to exclusive information about the SteamWorld games as they progress.

Rules and how to enter…

Upload or link to your picture (and ask any questions) in the comments below. We need your entry by Sunday October 11th at 23:59 CEST (EU) / 5:59 PM EDT (NA). We’ll reveal the winner in next week’s blog update (Tuesday). By submitting your images you give us the rights to freely use them in our products, services and marketing materials. The winning entry will not appear in the video game SteamWorld Heist.

You are completely free with your entry and are allowed to do some basic image editing. But let’s keep it safe for work and enjoyable for everyone. Also, make sure you’re allowed to share what’s in your picture before posting it online (including all faces, belongings, information and locations). It’s optional to include people in the photo.

Got what it takes? Hit us with your best shot!

Create EPIC ONE-LINERS for SteamWorld Heist and become a SteamWorld Ambassador

Create EPIC ONE-LINERS for SteamWorld Heist – Ambassador Challenge #3

Howdy, partners!

After last week’s reveal of the amazing hat design winners we thought it was time for a new SteamWorld Ambassador Challenge! Watch our CEO Brjánn introduce the challenge to you or scroll down to read the video summary.

This week’s challenge…

As Brjánn says in the video above we want you to create epic one-liners for the robots to say in SteamWorld Heist. More specifically we want you to create lines for the faction of robots known as Scrappers. They’re the scourge of the outer rim of habitable space and is the first enemy faction Captain Piper and her crew will encounter in SteamWorld Heist.

More specifically we want you to create three lines (in other words: three chances to win). Create your lines based on these emotions:

  1. Anger
  2. Glee (evil delight)
  3. Shock

Each line has to be three words or less. But other than that we give you free rein to create your one-liners. Try to make them as mean and menacing you can without venturing into inappropropriate territories. Offensive entries will be flushed down a digital drain somewhere.

Meet the Scrappers!

What you can win…

The winners will become SteamWorld Ambassadors. As a SteamWorld Ambassador you’ll be among the first in the world to play SteamWorld Heist before release. The game will launch on one or two platforms at a time starting this fall, and prior to every platform release we’ll send you a download code for the full game. We’ll even add a few spares you can give to your friends. You and the other ambassadors also get access to exclusive information about the SteamWorld games as they progress.

How to enter…

Leave your entries (and ask any questions) in the comments below. We need your design by Friday May 22nd at 23:59 CEST (EU) / 5:59 PM EDT (NA). We’ll pick a winner over the weekend and reveal the SteamWorld Ambassadors in next week’s Tuesday update. By submitting your one-liners you give us the right to freely use them in our games. We reserve the right to judge whether the winning entries appear in the final game or not, and might alter them as we see fit.

Got what it takes? Hit us with your best shot!

Win early copies of SteamWorld Heist on all platforms by designing an awesome hat :D

Design A Hat For SteamWorld Heist – Ambassador Challenge #2

Howdy, partners!

It’s already been two weeks since the first SteamWorld Ambassador Challenge in which we asked you to name a weapon that will appear in SteamWorld Heist. We were blown away by the hundreds of creative entries and chose three winners to become the first people in the world to join the official SteamWorld Ambassador Club.

Today we have a new challenge for you. Get the details in this video or read the summary down below:

#Heistuesday 13: SteamWorld Holiday Competition!

Howdy partners!

This week we’re all out of the office for a well-deserved year-end break. But we’re still working on SteamWorld Heist: before leaving, we updated our 3DS test units with the latest SteamWorld Heist build. Six of us will be home enjoying the game over the holidays.

Our dev team hard at work.

The game is actually working most of the time, and personally I must say it’s very fun to play (not that I’m biased or anything). We’re looking forward to sharing more gameplay footage and other spicy details next year.

As thanks for all of you being awesome we thought we’d host a small giveaway. The two winners will receive five SteamWorld Dig download keys on the platforms of their choice (mix and match freely), as well as a SteamWorld Heist t-shirt! The codes and t-shirts will be sent to the winners in January.

The rules are simple: Get in festive spirit by gazing upon this year’s beautiful Holiday Greeting Card by our artist @AgnesMikucka, and write a holiday poem/verse related to SteamWorld. Long, short, fun or serious doesn’t matter! You’re the Leonard Cohen of your holiday poem, so to speak. Be sure to submit your entry in the comments below before January 1st 2015!

The steambots of SteamWorld Heist sure like their glögg.

So from all of us at Image & Form: Happy Holidays!

Anthill Gets NEW LEVELS and is Free on App Store + GIVEAWAY

Don’t miss our giveaway in the comments!

You’ve been asking us for months and finally we’ve answered your player prayers! Welcome Antology, the new level pack for Anthill on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It launches worldwide today as an in-app purchase in the latest version of Anthill (4.1). For $0.99 (or the equivalent) you get 8 fresh levels and a new Infinity Mode! And that’s not all: Anthill (excluding Temple of Bloom) is at the moment completely free on the App Store. The perfect time to introduce a friend to Anthill, don’t ya’ think?

So what has the Anthill team been up to recently? As usual they’ve gotten up to all sorts of antics, but they saved their top notch devilry for you, in form of the devilishly tricky levels in Antology. Those irksome insects are raising hell once again, and this time they’re stronger than ever before. It’s a no-brainer that General Hardass and the rest of the ants need your help. But beware: Antology is not for the faint of heart.

Just look at the new challenges stacked up against you:

  1. Ruby Tuesday
  2. How I Met Your Moth
  3. Heavy Hitters
  4. Feast
  5. Famine
  6. The Road Part 1
  7. The Road Part 2
  8. False Security
  9. Ceaseless Mayhem (Infinity Mode)

The real deal

We recommend that you play the latest campaign, Temple of Bloom, before attempting on Antology, since Temple of Bloom contains powerful upgrades for your ants. Unless your skills are more solid than the buttocks of General Hardass you’ll need the upgrades, as Antology is designed to give you long-time fans a good challenge. Or in the sweet words of Image & Form honcho Brjann:

”Even I can’t ace the new levels, and I’m one of the game’s founding fathers! It’s fr*cking tough, man!”

GIVEAWAY

We listen to you and love your feedback! As thanks for your continued support we’re GIVING AWAY 5 free copies of our game SteamWorld Dig on Steam. To enter the drawing just leave a comment below with your answer to this question:

Why do you think the ants are collecting gemstones?
