SteamWorld Quest - Our Lovely Heroes

Win SteamWorld Quest for PC – Out May 31!

Howdy, everyone!

It’s with great pleasure we’re announcing that SteamWorld Quest comes to Steam on May 31. You know what? That’s just a few weeks away! Since the launch last month, Quest has been a Switch exclusive, but soon anyone with a PC can enjoy it! You read that right: ANYONE WITH A PC CAN PLAY. We’re preparing day one versions for Windows, macOS, and Linux (thought we’d forget about the last two?).

Head over to Steam to wishlist the game today!

First of all: Thanks for the love!

SWQ is blessed with fabulous feedback from players and press alike, with the Switch version boasting an impressive 80/100 on Metacritic. Your love has led to impressive sales – Quest is currently the second best-selling SteamWorld game at release! SteamWorld Dig 2 (our fastest selling game to date) performed ridiculously well for us back in 2017. We’re thrilled and grateful for your support and hope that many more will enjoy the game once it’s out on PC!

If you’re new to SteamWorld Quest, there’s more to learn on its official website. Feel free to watch the trailer below, as well.

What about GOG and Humble?

No plans to share at the moment, but rest assured that we’re well aware of the benefits of DRM-free gaming. We’re PC gamers too, you know!

Will the game have PC exclusive features?

The PC version comes with achievements and Steam exclusive features like trading cards. But other than that, it’ll be identical to the Switch version. We’ll also have the game’s soundtrack ready for sale at launch.

How can I win SteamWorld Quest for PC?

Thanks for asking. It’s easy! Since the Switch release, we’ve seen a ton of talented artists drawing the cast of SteamWorld Quest in all sorts of imaginative styles and scenarios. Here are a few notable examples (Copernica is very popular):

SteamWorld Dig 2: Release Date & Price

Howdy, partners!

SteamWorld Dig 2 hits Nintendo Switch on September 21 for $19.99/€19.99/£14.99 or your region’s equivalent. That’s something I’ve wanted to write for a very long time! We revealed it today during Nintendo’s Nindies Showcase in a brand new trailer. We tease new worlds, enemies, upgrades and challenges.

Watch and enjoy:

We also revealed 10 beautiful new screenshots. Head over to the official game page for all new images and other details.

Release Date and Price

As mentioned above, SteamWorld Dig 2 world premieres on Nintendo Switch in America and Europe on September 21. According to Almanac.com it’s the penultimate day of summer, so we don’t miss our original summer release window! Isn’t that something?

The game will be available for download on Nintendo eShop for $19.99. That’s twice the price of the original SteamWorld Dig. But since it’s at least ten times as good it’s more than a nice deal. You can expect around 10 hours of gameplay and multiple boss battles in a big, sprawling world which you’re free to explore and dig through at your own pace. The game is even longer for those of you itching to find all secrets and unlockables (and there are plenty).

A wonderful cast of characters

What about Steam and PS4?

Not a proud owner of Nintendo Switch? Well, you’re in luck! Only a few days later you’ll be able to download and play SWD2 on Steam and PlayStation 4. Expect more details (and a few surprises) very soon!

Play SWD2 at PAX West

SteamWorld Dig 2 is playable at PAX West this week. Brjánn is already in Seattle and ready to mingle with happy SteamWorld fans. We’d love to hear from you on social media if you stop by our booth (the Nintendo one).

What now, Captain Meow?

We have so much more to talk about in the coming weeks. Expect new info and trailers on social media (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube) as we approach launch. Make sure you follow us on your preferred social network to never miss an update and the chance to ask us any questions you might have!

Question: What do you want to see from SWD2 until launch?

SteamWorld Dig 2 Hits Switch, Steam and PS4 Soon-ish!

Howdy, partners! Summer is here, so where is SteamWorld Dig 2? Well, we have a big update for you today. Continue reading for a bunch of new info!

Steam and PS4 joins the lineup!

We’re happy to reveal that SteamWorld Dig 2 is coming to Steam and PS4 in addition to Nintendo Switch. We plan to have SWD2 out on all within a few days of the Nintendo Switch debut. A few years ago a multi-platform launch would’ve been completely impossible for us. Thanks to hard work and a bigger team we can finally make it happen. It’s like we’re a “real” game studio now! 😀

Rest assured that these new versions of the game won’t delay the Nintendo Switch version, it’s just that multi-platform development is so much easier for us nowadays. Switch is still the main platform, and now more gamers can join in on the fun!

Is there a release date yet?

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” – Shigeru Miyamoto, Creative Fellow at Nintendo

These words from legendary Shigsy have become a motto at Image & Form. It’s a good reminder to avoid rush jobs if you can. Dig 2 is pretty much finished now, but we’ll take a few more months to polish the game to the level you all expect.

Our new release window is “Late Summer/Early Fall 2017”.

When we plan the release for any SteamWorld game, we always want to finish as soon as possible so everyone can play and and have fun with it. But at the same time we want to create something new. It’s hard to estimate how long that’s going to take and at what point whatever we consider to be new is done. More often than not problems take a lot longer to tackle than anticipated. These extra months will take pressure off our team and give us enough time to give you the game you deserve.

We’re going on vacation now, and will reveal the final release date some time after that. And then we’ll talk price, too.

What about 3DS, Vita and Wii U?

Even though we love Wii U and had great success on the console, there’s no denying that Nintendo Switch has firmly taken its place by now. For that simple reason, we will no longer make new Wii U games. Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita are still important to us. We won’t talk more about portable versions today, but rest assured we have not forgotten where we came from.

Will you play SWD2 on Switch, Steam or PS4?

SteamWorld Dig Official Original Soundtrack

SteamWorld Dig is 50% off on Steam + Release of Official OST

Howdy, diggers! Between today and Sunday we’re slashing the price of SteamWorld Dig on Steam in HALF. That means you can get your hands on SteamWorld Dig for PC, Mac and Linux for $4.99 (or the equivalent). Not only that, but in celebration of the 50% discount we’re releasing some new exciting content for you. Exclusively on Steam you can now purchase the official SteamWorld Dig Original Soundtrack for $0.99. The album contains all nine top notch tunes from the game, composed and recorded by two ace-high composers: Mattias Hammarin and Jonas Kjellberg.

Did you know you can listen to the whole shebang right here?

Isn’t the album art lovely? If you’ve listened to the songs and can’t live without them (or just are in the mood for sending us a dollar for some sweet music), why not buy the OST from the SteamWorld Dig page on Steam? We’re looking into if we’re able to release the soundtrack on iTunes and Spotify as well. But it’s more complicated than we initially thought. So until we’ve figured it out, I hope Soundcloud and Steam is enough to quench your thirst for tones. At least for a while ;D

We’re GIVING AWAY 3 STEAM KEYS for SteamWorld Dig. Just give this question your most creative answer and you’ll enter the drawing:
